Pop-in at St Michael's
Pop-InTuesday afternoons at St Michael’s Church are a lot of fun! Children (accompanied by parents/grandparents/carers) arrive in a burst of enthusiasm and excitement and the church is soon buzzing with conversation, adults and children alike. During the last few months children have enjoyed a wide range of activities: colouring, painting, cutting and sticking, playdough and mosaic pictures. We value what they do and some of this can be seen on display in the north aisle. A collage of Daniel in the Lions’ Den was followed by activities based around the Lord’s Prayer, including collage pictures that were then placed in the correct order with the words, a little calligraphy, some effective stained glass windows and making bead bracelets, which were very popular with everyone. A large box of Lego always has its followers, whilst skittles (very light-weight!) and Jenga occupy others. Code breaking challenges, quizzes and other word related activities are also much enjoyed and so too are games with dice and the fun of pulling jokes out of a box and telling them to anyone who will listen. We sometimes sing and we encourage children to bring along their instruments and accompany the songs. At the moment we are painting and decorating flower pots, with the theme of ‘thank you for our wonderful world’.

The Christmas story
The children so enjoyed making this Christmas display it tells the story from the beginning when Joseph was told by an Angel that Mary was having a baby, through to the shepherds and wise men rejoicing the birth of Jesus. We displayed appropriate words of carols for each part of the journey so that it is easy to follow.
After completing their craft work the children practise Away in a Manger with Dorothy to be sung at the Christingle service on Christmas Eve.
Everyone is welcome to join us at "Pop-in". We are a happy vibrant group within our church and it is so good to be together sharing in chat and laughter with the children creating wonderful things using glitter glue and all things good or just a cup of tea and a bit of company. We meet every Tuesday 2.30 onwards term time.
When we return after Christmas our topic will be the story of Noah's Ark
